Schaumburg, IL – June 30, 2026 – NCOM is thrilled to share that Dr. Shahid Siddiqui has been selected to join our proposed osteopathic medical school in Chicagoland. His appointment as the Chair of Foundational Sciences is among the most fundamental for the future of osteopathic physicians we will soon be graduating.
“Dr. Siddiqui brings more than four decades of continuous engagement with, and leadership in, foundational science disciplines including molecular biology, genetics, cell physiology, and biochemistry underpinning modern osteopathic medical education,” shared Founding Dean and Chief Academic Officer Dr. K. Scott Whitlow, DO, CS, FAAEM. “His career has been defined by his conviction that biomedical sciences are most meaningful when they serve the individuals who need it most, and the best osteopathic medical education is one that grounds clinical practice in foundational mechanistic understanding from the first day of training.”
Dr. Siddiqui has taught molecular biology, cell biology, physiology, and genetics at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels while simultaneously being published on many significant levels. His integration of active research with teaching reflects his belief that osteopathic medical students are best served by faculty who remain intellectually active in their disciplines while connecting foundational science directly to the clinical problems students, and patients, will encounter. His work and experience in new medical school curriculum development gives him a distinctive perspective on how the foundational sciences connect to integrated clinical practice, osteopathic principles, and health equity all perspectives he is committed to bringing to NCOM.
